The search engine giant, Google places its first steps in the vending machine business by selling android games to the Japanese. Google hits the vending industry by placing three Google Play machines in front of the Parco department store in Shibuya, Tokyo. The machines dispense 18 games which include free-to-play and paid-for ones.
To get your favourite game, you must have a Smartphone with Android 4.0 and NFC. Placing the phone on the tray would trigger NFC for instant connection with the machine. You can easily download the game through unified animation between the phone screen and machine’s touch screen display. The brownie point is that presents will be dropped down for trying other Google apps.
Simple to operate, the machine also works well for the Nexus 4 tablet. This way Google makes a smart entry in the vending machine business with just three machines to start with. In addition, the machines are placed only for a ten-day run and would be guarded by Google employees. Already a big hit in Japan, the game vending machine from Google is very well received there.
Google famed for giving surprises might storm in the vending machine business by launching such machines in other parts of the globe as well. Needless to say, we can only wait and watch Google’s next move. If you have an Android 4.0 phone with NFC and love games, keep your fingers crossed.
